About the opportunity

There are currently two permanent full‐time positions available for immediate filling. These positions are based at Hillarys and Fremantle.

As a Senior Fisheries and Marine Officer you will coordinate and undertake the delivery of effective and efficient compliance activities, investigations, surveillance, education and community awareness programs relating to fisheries and other legislation administered by the Department.

Additionally, you will provide guidance on the interpretation of legislation, contribute to the development of operational policies and improve compliance strategies. You will engage with the community and visitors to ensure they are obeying the law and aware of consequences, and will be responsible for planning and conducting patrols and supporting prosecution processes.

About you
* A current Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal Certificate of Competency.
* Certificate qualifications in compliance and investigations and/or possession of relevant experience.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant compliance legislation, compliance governance framework and operational procedures.
* Ability to interpret and apply legislation.
* Ability to engage with stakeholders using well‐developed written and verbal communication skills.
* Possession or willingness to undertake First Aid Certification.
* Experience in operating and maintaining vessels, 4WD vehicles and associated equipment.
