Senior Accountant | ASO8 | Adelaide | Full-Time Contract |Leading South Australian Public Sector Organisation
Are you a highly skilled senior accounting professional with proven experience in the South Australian public sector? This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your advanced financial, reporting, and analytical expertise in a meaningful 6-month contract with one of the state’s most vital departments.
We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant (ASO8) to join a dynamic finance and reporting team supporting critical operational and project-driven outcomes. This role will provide financial insight, ensure compliance with SA Government accounting requirements, and support high-level decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
* Oversee financial statements and ensure compliance with audit and legislative requirements.
* Deliver accurate and insightful project financial reporting for key department initiatives.
* Support end-of-month and end-of-year accounting processes and reconciliations.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver clear, data-driven reporting and analysis.
* Ensure compliance with Treasurer’s Instructions, Accounting Policy Statements, and relevant standards.
* Provide high-level financial advice to senior executives on budget forecasting and variance analysis.
* Assist in the coordination of external audits and support audit preparedness.
Key Skills And Experience
* Proven experience in senior accounting roles within the SA Government.
* In-depth knowledge of SA Government financial frameworks, systems, and reporting requirements.
* Strong experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply public sector accounting standards.
* Highly proficient in analytical reporting, budget management, and financial forecasting.
* Previous experience in financial reporting for high-profile public sector projects is highly desirable.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across departments.
