Role Overview
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) offers a Mobile Dental Unit (MDU) to assist rural and remote Queenslanders with access to dental care. The MDU contains two state‑of‑the‑art dental surgeries and serves over 70 patients per week, providing preventive care, extractions, and on‑board orthopantomogram (OPG) services. The unit aims to improve oral health in communities across QLD with regular, ongoing service.
Responsibilities
* Provide general dentistry for patients throughout all age groups in welcoming communities across rural and remote QLD.
* Conduct clinical examinations, diagnose dental conditions, develop and implement treatment plans, including extractions.
* Provide oral health education, maintain accurate clinical records, and support patients with post‑treatment care.
* Practice confidently and autonomously in a remote environment, demonstrating cultural awareness and adaptability to meet community needs.
Qualifications
* Registration with AHPRA as a Dentist.
* Minimum of two years’ clinical experience, preferably in rural and remote practice.
* Ability to handle challenging operational situations calmly and rationally.
* Proven clinical skills managing a broad range of oral health issues.
* Evidence of annual certification in Basic Life Support (or willing to obtain before commencement) and a current First Aid Certificate (AED).
* Extra oral radiation licence (required).
Schedule & Compensation
We’re offering permanent, part‑time opportunities with the flexibility to work up to 0.75 FTE or less if desired. The 0.75 FTE role follows a rotating 12‑week schedule: 2 weeks on, 1 week off, with a final full rotation off (a 4‑week break every 12 weeks).

Additional Notes
This role may require a pre‑employment medical assessment. It is mandatory to hold a valid QLD driver’s licence and drive a work vehicle when required. The role also requires the RFDS credentialing process and proof of vaccination against vaccine‑preventable diseases.
