A Federal Government department is seeking five experienced Operations Data Engineers (Senior Data Engineers) to support the ongoing development and maintenance of its national cloud-based data infrastructure. This is a key opportunity to contribute to a data-driven agency supporting Australians with disabilities. The successful candidates will be offered initial 12-month contracts with a 12-month extension option, and enjoy hybrid working arrangements across multiple locations.
The successful Senior Data Engineers will be responsible for, but not limited to:
* Providing Level 2/3 technical support across AWS, Snowflake, Control-M, Teradata, and ETL integrations.
* Supporting and maintaining operational data pipelines across Cloud Data Lake, EDW, Legacy EDW, and SAS analytics platforms.
* Developing and maintaining SQL, ETL, and Python-based code within a DevOps environment.
* Working with tools such as AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, EC2, and RDS to manage large-scale data operations.
* Facilitating continuous improvement in coding standards, documentation, and team capability.
* Managing version control, scheduling tasks (e.g. via Control-M), and prioritising incoming work requests.
The successful candidates will have demonstrated experience with:
* AWS services for data engineering (Glue, S3, Lambda, EC2, RDS).
* Building and maintaining robust data pipelines using ETL/ELT frameworks.
* Snowflake and/or Teradata for enterprise data warehousing.
* Python and other programming languages relevant to data engineering.
* Control-M or similar job orchestration tools.
* Delivering operational support and enhancements in a BAU data platform context.
