Job Title: Linux Cryptography and Security Specialist
Description:
We are seeking a skilled cryptography expert to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your knowledge of software engineering and cryptography to build and maintain the security foundation for Ubuntu users.
Your responsibilities will include enhancing the Ubuntu distribution, collaborating with organizations such as DISA and CIS to develop security hardening benchmarks, and working with internal stakeholders to identify gaps in our frameworks.
You will also be responsible for auditing deployed systems for compliance with DISA-STIG and CIS benchmark standards. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of automation tooling and work closely with Canonical's kernel team to drive features impacting all Ubuntu users.
This role offers a chance to make a significant impact on our security culture and facilitate technical delivery. You will collaborate with other engineers to achieve and retain various security certifications and extend and enhance Linux cryptographic components with the required features and functionality for FIPS and CC certification.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to influence team direction and execution, communicate effectively with internal and external partners, and rapidly resolve issues to deliver high-quality solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging
* Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including prior experience with C development and the ability to demonstrate such
* Hands-on experience with Linux system administration and shell scripting
* Demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals and direct experience writing secure code and implementing best practices
* Significant development experience working with open source libraries
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills to enable efficient collaboration with internal and external partners in a remote-first environment
