Inventory Controller – Mining & Heavy Industry (Wacol, QLD)
We are currently seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to join a leading organisation in the mining and heavy industry sector. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, parts, and consumables to support production and maintenance activities across workshop operations.
This is a Monday–Friday position based in Wacol, offering flexibility with a 5:00am or 6:00am start. The role is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, with excellent hourly rates of $45–$48 p/h depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage site-based materials, consumables, PPE, and inventory levels to meet operational needs.
* Parts receiving, booking, storage, and issuing through ERP systems (SAP/Oracle experience highly regarded)
* Coordinate goods in/out processes, including subcontractor items.
* Conduct stocktakes and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
* Support technicians with parts preparation and billable tasks to meet production deadlines.
* Operate forklift and overhead crane to move parts, materials, and equipment safely.
* Manage calibration schedules for equipment and maintain chemical register compliance.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prevent stock outs and reduce excess inventory.
* Provide timely reporting on material availability, shortages, and consumption.
* Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, and workplace policies.
Skills & Experience
* Current LF Forklift Licence – essential
* Experience with overhead crane operations is essential
* 5+ years' experience in inventory control, materials management or procurement within a heavy industrial/mining/fabrication environment
* Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Oracle preferred)
* Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
* Proven experience in stock control, forecasting, and supplier/subcontractor management.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Knowledge of LEAN principles or Six Sigma advantageous
