About The Team
Our
Operations
team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.
The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.
About The Opportunity
Lead and supervise a multi-skilled delivery works group to deliver work allocated by the Area Manager Port Waratah to appropriate standards to ensure the operational integrity and efficiency of a designated location or section within a defined rail corridor;
Ensure mandatory systematic inspection, examination, condition monitoring and functional checks on the rail infrastructure and take appropriate action to ensure rail infrastructure is in a safe operational condition, including recording and reporting of defective infrastructure to maintain a valid defect recording system.
Responsibilities Of The Role Include, But Not Limited To
* Promote and encourage a positive and safety first work culture within the team

* Conduct mandatory Pre-Work Briefings.
* Ensure safety checks are completed and records of inspections maintained.
* Ensure that only suitably accredited or competent staff perform work tasks.
* Respond to emergency situations as required.
* Ensure mandatory systematic inspection, examination, condition monitoring and functional checks on the rail infrastructure are conducted and take appropriate action to ensure rail infrastructure is in a safe operational condition.
* Ensure recording and reporting of defective infrastructure to maintain a valid defect recording system.
* Supervise employee and external contractor performance and productivity.
* Plan and deliver allocated maintenance works.
* Determine appropriate resource allocation including personnel, plant and material allocation and prioritisation.
* Ensure maintenance of materials, tools, vehicles and equipment.
* Recommend improvements in the maintenance and works processes.
* Optimise infrastructure performance and availability.
* Complete planning for the daily Work Group tasks.
* Ensure system signoff of all completed tasks.
* Prepare daily Work Group time notes.
* Completion Work Group costing for completed tasks.
* Assist the Area Manager Port Waratah in the overall planning of works.
* Participate in projects and undertake other duties as requested.
What do we want from you?
Essential
* Minimum technical competencies to satisfy Competency Level 4, or better in track, structures or signals discipline stream;
* Detailed knowledge of a single rail infrastructure discipline stream (track, structures or signalling);
* Certification in infrastructure inspection, assessment and repair;
* Ability to supervise teams for effective performance;
* Ability to supervise/manage multi-disciplined teams (track, structures or signalling);
* Knowledge of Rail Safety Management and WH&S principles, and an ability to implement the principles;
* Hand Signalling and Worksite Protection PO3;
* Drivers Licence - Class C.
Desirable
* Well-developed problem resolution skills;
* Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
* Basic computer skills.
