SAHMRI are seeking an experienced Financial Planning and Reporting Analyst. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the preparation of high-quality and timely management reports to internal stakeholders. Under guidance from the Financial Planning and Reporting Senior Analyst and the Financial Planning & Analysis Reporting Manager, you will analyse results and prepare reports to monitor current financial performance, forecast and budget future performance, identify trends and provide explanations for any variances.
About the role
Key responsibilities include:
1. Develop an understanding of all areas of SAHMRI’s business and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
2. Prepare monthly financial information for allocated projects and / or themes to relevant internal stakeholders, providing users with insights to assist them with the financial management of their project or department.
3. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including in the preparation of grant acquittal statements.
4. Supporting the Financial Planning & Analysis Reporting Manager and Senior Financial Planning and Reporting Analyst in the delivery of the annual budget and forecast update processes.
5. Identify process improvements and work with the team to develop solutions.
6. Support the wider finance team with ad-hoc queries and analysis, as required.
About You
The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:
7. An appropriate degree in Accounting, Commerce or Economics
8. CPA/CA qualified
9. Demonstratable experience in assisting with the preparation of financial reports.
10. Strong analytical skills, with keen attention to detail and ability to identify trends in data.
11. An ability to transform complex financial information into a suitable format for a variety of audiences.
12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the capacity to build positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders as a trusted advisor who is able to enhance finance acumen across the organisation
13. Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and work under pressure.
14. Ability to work productively within a team environment.
15. Demonstrated ability to be able to work independently at times.
16. Experience using medium-sized financial information systems.
17. Experience within a Big 4 or comparable service-based environment an advantage, but not essential.
18. Understanding of accounting requirements of not-for-profit entities an advantage
