Recruitment & HR Administration

People & Culture | APS5 Equivalent | Labour Hire / Contractor

Locations: Sydney (North Sydney) | Initial 6 month contract

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced HR Officer to join a dynamic People & Culture team supporting a large-scale national infrastructure initiative. This role offers the chance to contribute to meaningful work that supports major government priorities and long-term workforce capability. As the HR Officer – Recruitment & HR Administration, you will play a key role in delivering end-to-end recruitment coordination, onboarding support, and HR administration services within a fast‐paced APS environment. You will work closely with hiring managers, candidates, and internal stakeholders to ensure recruitment and onboarding activities are delivered efficiently, professionally, and in line with APS merit principles and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment Coordination

* Support end-to-end recruitment activities across multiple business areas
* Prepare and publish job advertisements in line with APS standards and organisational requirements
* Assist with shortlisting activities, eligibility checks, and documentation of panel decisions
* Support merit-based assessment processes, including referee checks and preparation of selection documentation
* Monitor recruitment progress and maintain accurate status updates for stakeholders

Recruitment Administration

* Coordinate interviews, panel logistics, and candidate communications
* Prepare recruitment documentation including interview packs, reports, and offer letters
* Maintain recruitment records and files to ensure compliance, privacy, and audit requirements are met
* Manage recruitment inboxes and respond to enquiries in a timely and professional manner

Pre-Employment Screening & Onboarding

* Coordinate police checks, security clearances, and identity verification processes
* Track and follow up outstanding screening activities with candidates and service providers
* Prepare onboarding documentation and letters of offer
* Liaise with internal teams to coordinate commencement arrangements, systems access, and onboarding requirements
* Maintain accurate HR records and data integrity within HR systems

HR Operations Support

* Assist with s26 transfers, non-ongoing engagements, and labour hire arrangements
* Provide responsive support to employees, candidates, and stakeholders on HR and recruitment matters
* Contribute to broader People & Culture initiatives and continuous improvement activities

About You (Qualifications & Experience)

* Experience supporting recruitment and/or HR administration functions within a government or corporate environment
* Understanding of APS recruitment principles, merit-based selection, and HR processes
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* High attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately
* Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications
* A collaborative approach and strong stakeholder engagement skills

Eligibility Requirements

* Be an Australian Citizen
* Hold a Baseline Security Clearance
* Successfully complete a National Police Check
* Possess relevant qualifications or equivalent practical experience
