The Opportunity
We are looking for a customer service superstar to join our Overseas team as an Overseas Customer Service Consultant, working Part-Time (0.6FTE). This is a hybrid role that requires you to work onsite 2-3 days per week at our partner campus, Newcastle University, or from a Medibank store during local business hours 9 AM to 5 PM. When working from home, you will follow a rotating roster between 8 AM and 8 PM Melbourne time.
As a member of the Overseas service team, you will support a one-stop-shop for all our overseas student member needs, providing support, advice and value to overseas students in relation to their health insurance.
This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their customer service skills and build a career at Medibank.
Key responsibilities
- Service an end-to-end solution for Overseas Student customers
- Contribute to the Overseas Specialist Team by identifying opportunities to improve the member and billing agent experience
- Occasional presentations to stakeholders and customers (international students / university partners / migration agents)
- Assist students face-to-face, over the phone, via emails and over messaging
About You
We are looking for empathetic and motivated people who communicate effectively face-to-face and over the phone in a compassionate and friendly manner. You know what exceptional customer service looks like because you put yourself in the customer’s shoes. You can think on your feet, tailor your response to different situations, and solve problems while supporting your colleagues and the team around you.
Additional skills and experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the health, finance, or insurance industry within Australia is desirable (not compulsory)
- Self-starter with a drive to pursue own learning and development
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Current working with children check or willingness to obtain one if successful
- Multilingual skills advantageous
- Passionate about customer service and problem solving
- Tech-savvy with a can-do attitude
