Specialist Audiologist

We are privileged to advertise three new band 7 posts to complement our existing team. These are important roles to deliver key clinical activity in both hospital and community clinics. Our team is kind and friendly, innovative and committed to quality. You will be well-supported within the team and the wider Trust. This is a great opportunity for you to develop your skills in a large training department with a strong research programme.
Two 7 month B7 posts 37.5 hours per week
We are looking to recruit individuals with experience in any of the following areas:
Complex adult audiological testing and rehabilitation
Paediatric assessment and habilitation.
We are working to support ENT recovery and you will be expected to deliver some sessions assessing and treating patients in an audiology-first ENT service delivery model.
Main duties of the job
The provision of a comprehensive audiology service within the context of the wider department
Carrying out a range of diagnostic audiological tests
Providing a comprehensive rehabilitation service to hearing impaired adults and children
Provision of rehabilitative services to adults with complex needs
Maintaining own professional knowledge and contribute to the clinical developments of the department
Using knowledge and experience in the training and supervision of junior staff
Working independently
If you can demonstrate exceptional clinical abilities and a proven track record of service development, we would be interested to hear from you. You must have excellent communication skills and have a desire to find creative and effective solutions for patients with a variety of hearing and balance problems. You will be a competent practitioner and able to work without supervision in the main department and at satellite clinics. You will be expected to develop specialist expertise in some of our complex clinics although training will be given. We are a training department and you would be expected to contribute to training junior staff and PTP and STP trainees at BSc and MSc level.
You will have at least a BSc or MSc in Audiology or equivalent and will already have gained experience in a clinical setting. You must be AHCS/HCPC registered or working towards this.

Person Specification
Qualifications
oMSc in Audiology or equivalent (or assessed study in Adult Rehabilitation Audiology at M-level)
oState registration (or working towards this if not yet eligible)
Experience
oExtensive experience in general audiology post-qualification
oSignificant specialist experience in adult rehabilitation.
oSignificant experience in paediatric Audiology
oExperience in audit and service development
oEvidence of autonomous and unsupervised working
oExperience with complex adult rehabilitation caseload eg unilateral hearing loss, severe/profound hearing loss, tinnitus
Knowledge
oIn- depth working knowledge of relevant national standards, policies, skilled recommendations and guidelines
oDetailed knowledge of hearing aids and their processing strategies and other relevant new technologies
Skills
oAdvanced skills in adult and paediatric auditory rehabilitation and specialist tests of hearing function
oComputer-literate, with good keyboard skills
oAbility to extract clinical information from and communicate complex technical explanations to patients and carers.
oAbility and willingness to lead, offer opinions and direction in an effective team-spirited manner
oAdvanced research skills
