Who we are:
Djerriwarrh Community College is a registered independent specialist senior secondary school based in Melton. The College delivers the Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) certificate for students aged 15-19 years. It provides a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people who may have been disengaged or are at risk of disengaging from education.
Role:
The Djerriwarrh Community College Youth Worker coordinates, implements, and continually enhances wellbeing programs and practices throughout the school. This role is essential in fostering a positive health and wellbeing culture and aims to enrich the student experience by offering direct support so every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
* Student Wellbeing & Safety:leads wellbeing initiatives, student development, and promoted positive mental health in alignment with the College's Strategic Plan.
* Financial & Administrative Management: in conjunction with the leadership team, oversees financial and wellbeing resource management, ensures compliance with data and funding requirements, conducts initial enrolment interviews and supports policy development and review.
* Child Safety: ensuring student safety and wellbeing by promoting a child safe environment, supporting staff and families, and adhering to relevant policies and practices.
* Relationships & Communication: supports staff wellbeing, leads wellbeing meetings, builds positive relationships, maintains professional communication and connects students with the community.
* Professional Standards and Development: maintain professional credentials, pursue continuous development, uphold conduct and privacy standards, and participate in regular external supervision sessions.
This is full time, ongoing position commencing in early 2026.
Skills/Qualifications:
Essential:
* Satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
* Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
* A relevant tertiary qualification in Youth Work/Social Work or similar.
* Experience in leading staff in wellbeing strategies and restorative practice approaches.
Desirable:
* Experience of working in independent special assistance sector is advantageous.
* Youth Mental Health First Aid Training or willingness to undertake.
* Berry Street Education Model Training or willingness to undertake.
* First Aid Training and Anaphylaxis Training or willingness to undertake.
