What you will do as the Budget Advisor
* Support development of the external budget including contributing to the preparation of the Portfolio Budget Statements (PBS) and input adjustments into the Commonwealth Budget Management System (CBMS).
* Support development of New Policy Proposals (NPPs) for the AER including engaging with business areas and Financial Business Partners to prepare documents in accordance with provided guidance.
* Support the ongoing maintenance of financial policies and procedures for the broader AER Finance team which may include undertaking research and initial drafting.
* Contribute to the ongoing improvement of service delivery and analytical tools in TechnologyOne (e.g. dashboard, XLOne reporting etc).
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
* Collaborate with team members and assist with other operations of the Finance, Strategy and Performance Branch as required.
About You
* Demonstrated experience in accrual accounting, budgeting and reporting processes.
* A sound understanding of the external budget process and demonstrated ability contributing to elements of the process including the PBS and NPPs.
* Competency in computerised accounting systems such as TechnologyOne and CBMS, and intermediate MS Excel skills.
* An ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance as a minimum (required for CBMS access and NPP document handling).
* A demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems and contribute new ideas.
Salary: $93,004 - $98,617 (plus 15.4% superannuation)
