Job description:

The Finance Executive is responsible for delivering on elements of the financial, sales and operational business intelligence system, as well as supporting the day-to-day financial management and reporting of the business. Through analysing detailed financial information, the role will help the business make better decisions and implement projects more thoroughly.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations

* Oversee daily financial activities: accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations
* Own month-end & year-end close processes, delivering timely & accurate financial statements
* Lead budgeting, reforecasting & cost tracking processes in collaboration with department heads

Financial Controls & Risk Management

* Implement financial SOPs across procurement, approvals, expenses & reconciliations
* Enforce segregation of duties, authorisation protocols, and documentation discipline
* Implement inventory accounting and costing – including regular stocktakes and cost variance analysis
* Ensure compliance with all ATO, payroll, and tax obligations – including BAS, GST, FBT, and superannuation
* Prepare for and manage external audits, with complete audit-ready financial files
* Regularly review and strengthen internal control environment
* Prepare and submit purchase requests for HQ review

Reporting & Systems

* Manage Xero or accounting software, and recommend process improvements or automation
* Deliver monthly management reports, tracking performance against budget
* Assist Finance HQ and leadership with financial analysis to support operational decisions

Key Skills

Area Requirements

Qualifications - Degree in Accountancy or equivalent, CPA or CA qualified preferred

Experience - 1–4 years in SME or mid-sized companies, ideally with product/inventory-based businesses

Controls & Audit Strong track record of building or managing internal controls and external audit readiness

Financial Ops Skilled in month-end, cashflow, budgeting, and compliance

Systems Proficient in Xero or similar; can structure reporting and digitise simple workflows

Communication Able to explain finance matters clearly to non-finance team members

Growth Mindset Comfortable supporting fundraising or investor work as the business evolves
