Job Description
Job Title: Lead Commissioning Engineer Location: Waste-to-Energy Plant, Rockingham, Western Australia. Position: Full time Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 base (based on years of experience) + super + generous benefits Job Summary: Techfirm International are seeking experienced Lead Commissioning Engineers, on behalf of its client, to lead the commissioning and start-up phases of the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant in Rockingham, WA. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all commissioning activities, ensuring systems are safely brought online and meet performance, quality, and compliance requirements.
This role requires close collaboration with construction, engineering, and operations teams. Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage all commissioning activities across plant systems
* Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules
* Coordinate pre-commissioning, cold and hot commissioning, and start-up activities
* Oversee system testing, performance validation, and troubleshooting
* Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and HSE
* requirements
* Interface with EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives
* Manage commissioning documentation including test reports, procedures, and
* handover dossiers
* Identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal impact on schedule
* Support training of operations personnel and transition to plant operation
* Monitor progress and provide regular reporting to project management
Requirements:
* Proven experience of at least 3 years, in commissioning roles on industrial or energy projects
* Strong understanding of power plant systems (WtE or thermal power experience
* preferred)
* Experience leading commissioning teams and coordinating multiple disciplines
* Familiarity with international codes, standards, and HSE practices
* Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural project environment
* Excellent communication and reporting skills
* Fluent in English
Qualifications:
* Experience on Waste-to-Energy or thermal power generation projects
* Background in full project lifecycle (construction through commissioning and startup)
* Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent)
* Commissioning certifications or relevant technical credential
