Job Title: Power System Engineer
We are seeking a motivated engineer to support key functions in grid compliance, asset modelling, and commissioning studies.
About the Role:
This role involves collaborating with product, R&D, and modelling teams to develop a deep understanding of our client's hardware, software, and both RMS and EMT product models.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with headquarters' product, R&D, and modelling teams to develop a deep understanding of our client's hardware, software, and both RMS and EMT product models.
* Assist the commercial team in preparing model packages for tenders and bids.
* Provide support to clients regarding model-related queries and help resolve technical modelling issues.
* Coordinate with HQ teams to promptly resolve client-reported issues and ensure projects achieve optimal technical outcomes.
* Draft and review technical documentation, including reports and memos.
* Support the commercial function by reviewing documents relevant to Generator Performance Standards (GPS), including R1 and R2 submissions.
* Take part in site testing for R2 model validation and assist with the preparation of related test reports.
* Stay informed on current technical regulations, especially the National Electricity Rules (NER).
* Keep abreast of technological developments in our client's product line and associated technologies.
* Contribute to market research and analysis, focusing on customer needs, feedback, and emerging trends.
* Participate in the assessment and negotiation of grid connection agreements.
* Represent the company and support clients in meetings with regulators, AEMO, and network service providers as required.
Candidate Requirements:
* Must possess unrestricted working rights in Australia.
* A bachelor's degree in Power Electronics or Power System Engineering is essential; a master's degree is an advantage.
* At least five years of relevant industry experience.
* Strong understanding of NER technical standards, particularly S5.2 and S5.3.
* Sound knowledge of power systems, power electronics, and control theory.
* Proficient in tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, Python, MATLAB, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
* Prior experience in a Power Systems Engineering role is preferred.
* Familiarity with working alongside AEMO and Network Service Providers is highly desirable.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
