Total Remuneration Package: Package valued at up to $182,461. Base salary ranges from $101,122 to $160,983, plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Base salary rates above the minimum are available depending on experience. Note there is no automatic progression to $160,983 - SCAC. Access to SCAC is available once a school counsellor has progressed through all salary steps and upon successful application for Advanced Certification level against the NSW School Counselling Service PPF.
Overview / About Forbes Public School
Forbes Public School is situated on the Lachlan River, on the land of the Wiradjuri people, within the heart of the Forbes community. The school has an enrolment of 360 students, 30% identifying as Aboriginal. We provide learning across 14 mainstream classes and 5 special education classes. The school counsellor plays a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, social, emotional and learning needs of students across both mainstream and support settings. The counsellor also connects families with additional services when needed, with sensitivity to the community's drought and flood history.
Responsibilities
* Provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to complement and enhance learning and wellbeing outcomes.
* Collaborate with teachers to strengthen classroom practice and student outcomes.
* Build partnerships with families and engage with a diversity of students and school communities.
* Collaborate with a Senior Psychologist Education and participate in supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Engage in continuing professional development and maintain registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Participate in a departmental induction program and contribute to school counselling services across multiple sites as assigned.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
* Be a registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions with understanding of mental health needs of children and young people.
* Experience in psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for diverse students.
Conditions
* Be registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Ability and willingness to travel between worksites.
* Under the Teachers award (Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2024). To be eligible to apply, you must have unconditional, full approval to teach or eligibility to apply for approval to teach. If you do not hold full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Successful applicants will be provided with departmental induction, ongoing professional learning and supervision. Applicants should include WWCC clearance number. Applications for permanent full-time or permanent part-time employment are encouraged; if seeking permanent part-time, appointment will be offered at the desired FTE.
