Overview
Product Designer – CommBank Money Management squad, part of the Digital Crew within the Customer Digital and AI domain (CDAI).
You’ll work at the intersection of financial services, customer experience, and innovation, delivering outstanding user experiences for customers and staff.
You are someone who thrives end-to-end — from discovery and service design to UI design and delivery — and will join a collaborative, customer-focused product team.
You’ll partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Business SMEs and Researchers in an agile workplace to understand needs, translate insights into elegant, scalable solutions, and shape the product and the broader customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead discovery work to uncover customer problems, validate opportunities, and inform product strategy through research, workshops, and co-design.
- Translate insights into concepts, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs, ensuring solutions are desirable for customers and feasible for engineering.
- Apply systems thinking and service design techniques to shape an offering that anticipates customer and staff needs.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers throughout the agile lifecycle — from problem framing and ideation to delivery and iteration.
- Champion customer-centricity and advocate for best-in-class user experience at every stage of the product development process.
- Contribute to product strategy and roadmap discussions by grounding decisions in customer insights, design thinking, and data.
- Facilitate and participate in design critiques, workshops, and agile ceremonies, providing and receiving actionable feedback to improve outcomes.
- Contribute to evolving our design system for consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
- Measure and validate impact post-launch, using qualitative and quantitative insights to iterate and improve solutions.
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of experience designing digital products end-to-end in cross-functional product teams.
- Growth mindset and drive to develop your own capability and the capability of your colleagues.
- Proven ability to lead discovery and delivery activities with customers, product, and engineering stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of human-centred design methodologies and how to apply them in a fast-paced agile environment.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills — comfortable sketching ideas with engineers and presenting concepts to executives.
- Excellent interaction and UI design skills, with an eye for detail and craft.
- Experience designing for complex systems, services, or platforms, not just isolated features.
- Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and a basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, design tokens).
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and balance customer needs with business goals.
- A portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design thinking, craft, and measurable impact.
Nice to Have
- Experience in Financial Services.
- Exposure to design systems management and contribution.
- Awareness of new innovations and technology.
- Familiarity with metrics-driven product development (e.g., running experiments, A/B testing).
Why Join Us
- You’ll work on products that genuinely impact people’s lives.
- You’ll be part of a highly collaborative, customer-first culture.
- You’ll have ownership and autonomy to shape the product as a key member of a cross-functional team.
- We invest in your growth and career development through coaching, learning budgets, and design community support.
