The National Operations team is responsible for supporting the objectives of Comcare and the Regulatory Operations Group to be a nationally consistent, risk-based Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulator by ensuring the delivery of effective, consistent and targeted national regulatory operations to organisations within the Comcare Scheme.
The team is responsible for managing, monitoring and reporting on compliance of WHS Management System Audits, WHS Undertakings, major hazard facilities and hazardous chemicals and Health and Safety Representative and Entry Permit Holder Training requirements in line with the _Work Health and Safety Act 2011_ (WHS Act). The team coordinates Comcare's proactive regulatory activities.
Within National Operations is a dedicated investigations team that has carriage of complex criminal investigations into alleged breaches of the WHS Act and also conducts enquiries into all fatal incidents reported to Comcare.
The Assistant Director, Investigations is responsible for conducting criminal investigations into WHS incidents, gathering evidence to support prosecutions into breaches of the WHS Act.
The Assistant Director, Investigations will also conduct enquiries into all incidents reported to Comcare that result in a fatality. These enquiries will seek to establish the relationship between the fatality and the operations of the business, establishing whether the incident arose out of the conduct of the business or undertaking.
