About The Role
CrowdStrike is seeking a technically strong, self-directed cloud security professional to join our Professional Services team in JAPAC. This is a hands-on role for someone curious about cloud attack techniques and focused on building detection and defensive capabilities to counter them. You will work with complex, high-profile organizations across the region to understand exposure, sharpen detection capabilities, and close gaps that adversaries look for. The role requires both technical depth and strong client credibility.
What You\'ll Do
* Conduct cloud security assessments across environments, focusing mainly on AWS and Azure: review configurations, identity architectures, network exposure, and attack paths to surface meaningful risks.
* Design and build detection logic and alerting for cloud control plane activity, identity-based threats, and misconfiguration-driven exposure across cloud-native and third-party security platforms.
* Write automation to speed up assessment work, extract and correlate data across large datasets, and turn repeatable analysis into reusable assets.
* Collaborate with the Red Team during Purple Team exercises: test customer detection and response capabilities and translate gaps into concrete recommendations.
* Work with internal delivery teams to turn assessment findings into deployable detection content.
* Produce clear, high-quality reports and presentations for technical and executive audiences.
* Manage client engagements from scoping through delivery and keep stakeholders informed throughout.
* Contribute to service offerings through methodology development, tooling, and public-facing thought leadership.
What You\'ll Bring
* Cloud Platforms — Strong practical experience with AWS and Azure, including identity, compute, networking, storage, serverless, and logging/monitoring services.
* Understanding of cloud architecture patterns and where security assumptions break down; GCP experience is a plus.
* Detection Engineering — Experience building detection content, writing queries, developing alerting logic, and reducing noise in cloud-native and third-party SIEM/XDR environments.
* Knowledge of how threat actors operate in cloud environments and ability to translate into effective detections.
* Cloud Security Configuration Analysis — Ability to trace misconfigurations to realistic attack paths and tell a coherent story beyond isolated findings.
* Familiarity with common cloud attack patterns: privilege escalation, lateral movement, persistence, and data exfiltration.
* Automation and Tooling — Proficient in Python or equivalent, building tools to automate assessments, work with large datasets, and extend frameworks.
* Experience writing queries across platforms such as KQL, SPL, or cloud-native engines.
* Comfort using AI tooling to accelerate work with critical judgment to assess output quality.
* Communication — Strong written and verbal English; ability to write findings for CISOs and explain gaps to engineers. Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and managing client relationships.
* Ability to adapt approach across different business cultures in the JAPAC region; additional language proficiency (Mandarin, Japanese, Hindi, or Thai) is a strong advantage.
* Bonus Areas — Past detection engineering in traditional enterprise environments, cloud incident response, Kubernetes/container security, and CI/CD security/DevSecOps practices.
Experience And Background
Strong candidates will have deep cloud platform and security knowledge gained over time, whether through dedicated security roles, cloud engineering/DevOps backgrounds shifting toward security, or other paths. Cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security Specialty, AZ-500) are useful signals. Broad governance credentials (CISSP, CISA, CISM) are not the primary focus for this role.
