Transport Heritage NSW Ltd (THNSW) is a not-for-profit, registered charity and member-based organisation operating the NSW Rail Museum in Thirlmere and delivering vibrant heritage rail experiences across NSW.
Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers care for and conserve the State’s irreplaceable transport heritage assets while delivering memorable visitor and event experiences. We are driven by our vision of bringing transport heritage to life.
About the Role
We are seeking reliable, motivated and hands-on individuals to join our Cleaning & Presentation Services team on a casual basis.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring the NSW Rail Museum, event spaces, amenities, rollingstock and public areas are presented to the highest standard for our visitors, volunteers and staff. You will assist with cleaning, basic maintenance support and customer-facing duties during general operations and major event days.
The NSW Rail Museum is open seven (7) days a week, with additional weekend and evening work required during special events and peak periods.
Key responsibilities include:
· Cleaning and maintaining public areas, amenities, exhibition spaces and staff facilities
· Assisting with event day set-up and pack-down
· Supporting presentation standards across museum grounds and visitor areas
· Reporting maintenance issues and safety hazards
· Assisting visitors with basic enquiries and directions when required
· Supporting a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests
About You
You are practical, proactive and take pride in maintaining clean and well-presented spaces. You enjoy working both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, visitor-focused environment.
You will bring:
· Previous experience in cleaning, facilities, presentation services or similar roles (desirable)
· A strong work ethic with attention to detail
· Physical capacity to undertake manual handling and active duties
· A flexible approach to shifts, including weekends and event days
· A friendly and professional manner when interacting with visitors
· A “safety first” mindset with a positive, can-do attitude
Experience in event environments, tourism, hospitality or community organisations will be highly regarded.
