About the Opportunity
A leading infrastructure investor and developer is seeking an Energy Markets Analyst to join its high-performing trading and analytics team. The business has a significant and growing portfolio of renewable generation and storage assets across the National Electricity Market (NEM), with a strong pipeline of projects in development.
This role sits at the centre of commercial decision‐making, working closely with traders and senior stakeholders to analyse market behaviour, optimise asset performance, and support trading strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyse spot price movements, dispatch outcomes, and key market drivers
* Investigate volatility events (e.g. outages, renewable swings, transmission constraints)
* Translate complex market activity into clear, actionable insights for trading decisions
* Track real‐time NEM fundamentals including demand, generation, and interconnector flows
* Identify emerging risks and opportunities for trading strategies
* Assess asset performance relative to market conditions
* Identify drivers of revenue capture and missed opportunities
* Support development and improvement of short-term forecasts (price, demand, renewables)
* Contribute to modelling frameworks used by trading and investment teams
* Produce regular performance and market reports for internal stakeholders
* Build dashboards and analytical tools to improve market visibility
Experience
* 2+ years' experience in the Australian electricity market in consultancy, market body or industry
* Proficiency in Python and/or SQL for data analysis
* Strong understanding of NEM dynamics, including price formation and dispatch
* Familiarity with AEMO data
* Proficient in using AI tools to support day to day tasks (preferred)
