The Role
This new role reflects ongoing demand from our 30 year client base in the Wills & Estates area and will complement 2 practitioners already working in that area.
The role will be to independently advise our clients in relation to their Wills, estate planning and deceased estate matters including:
* Preparation of Wills and Testamentary Trusts, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Advance Care Directives and Superannuation Binding Death Nominations; and
* Applications for Probate and Letters of Administration and deceased estate administration;
* There is the opportunity (but not the obligation) to undertake litigious work in the area of contested estates and family inheritance claim matters
The position enjoys excellent paralegal and secretarial support by an experienced and highly motivated team.
We need someone full-time but we can be flexible with hours and generally for the right person. Motivated part-timers should get in touch
Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for independently managing clients in the Wills & Estates section of our business and will:
* Take initial telephone and email enquiries and meet with prospective clients to take instructions;
* Draft and settle documentation using our templates and document propagation systems;
* Administer deceased estates, inter vivos and inheritance trusts;
* Meet clients to advise on their estate planning, superannuation and deceased estate matters; and
* Manage client relations including invoicing and fee management.
Skills and Experience
We need an experienced lawyer who can work independently in the Wills & Estates area but understanding that there is high level support available as needed.
We would love to find someone with decades of relevant experience but we also encourage talented lawyers at the beginning of their career to reach out.
The ideal candidate will:
* Independently run their own files and maintain and build client relations;
* Have strong drafting capabilities including legal documentation, Court documents, correspondence and letters of advice;
* Be a skilled negotiator and a strong advocate;
* Undertake research at a high level;
* Regularly and effectively communicate with clients; and
* Instruct counsel as required.
