About the Hospital:
North Canberra Hospital (formerly Calvary Public Hospital Bruce) and Clare Holland House are now run and operated by Canberra Health Services (CHS)
This is a significant milestone as the ACT Government moves towards delivering a new billion-dollar hospital on Canberra's Northside.
The current North Canberra Hospital is a level 4 hospital that provides a range of acute and sub-acute services including community based care to the residents of the northside of Canberra and Southern NSW. North Canberra Hospital (NCH) is a 270 bed public hospital located in Canberra's expanding northside. North Canberra Hospital operates a 24 hour Emergency Department. Inpatient services include general medicine, surgery, maternity, mental health and critical care.
Other service modalities include day surgery, specialist outpatient clinics, Hospital in the Home and the Geriatric Rapid Acute Care Evaluation service that reaches into aged care facilities across the ACT.
The new Northside Hospital will be built on the existing Calvary Hospital campus in Bruce. It will be a modern, state-of-the-art hospital for patients, visitors and its workforce and will provide more beds and increased services. Until then, it's business as usual at the NCH, and we'll keep providing high-quality care to our patients and community.
About the role:
NCH Pharmacy sits within the Division of Allied Health, Ambulatory and Palliative Care and comprises a highly functioning and friendly team of approximately 45 staff – pharmacists, technicians and administrative staff. Currently, the department provides clinical pharmacy services using a complete digital health record to various specialty areas including critical care, emergency care, coronary care, stroke/neurology, general medicine, general surgery, palliative care, maternity, mental health, pre-admission clinic, hospital in the home, as well as dispensary and non-sterile manufacturing services. We also offer a pharmacy residency program, and a wide range of teaching opportunities.

The position provides an opportunity for a Pharmacy graduate to obtain provisional pharmacist registration, undertake supervised practice and complete a comprehensive intern training program with the aim of developing the necessary clinical pharmacy knowledge and skills to be able to practice competently as a pharmacist with general registration in the hospital setting.
The Pre-registration Pharmacist is responsible for fulfilling requirements as prescribed by the Pharmacy Board of Australia (PBA), their Intern Training Program Provider, and the North Canberra Hospital (NCH) Pharmacy Department (CPHB). The Pre-registration Pharmacist will be expected to rotate through multiple areas serviced by the NCH and contribute to the quality use of medicines and optimal patient care through the provision of pharmacy services under supervision of a registered Pharmacist.
Please note: Successful applicants will be expected to sit for their written AHPRA exams and oral AHPRA exams at the earliest scheduled session where they have met the practice hour requirements.
These positions are only for an unregistered (pre-registration pharmacist) eligible to commence Jan 2026 as a pre-registration pharmacist in an Australian Intern Training Program approved by AHPRA and APC (Australian Pharmacy Council).
