The primary function of this role is the secure and efficient operation of Company vessels.
The Engineer is responsible for the technical oversight and maintenance of all main and auxiliary machinery, including air conditioning, refrigeration and electrical, plus the servicing and maintenance of firefighting equipment, the engine room, and the cleanliness of machinery spaces.
The Engineer works with the Maintenance team, the Master, and the Operations Manager to ensure technical requirements are met and services, supplies and work requirements are met.
The role also assists with loading/unloading of the vessel, luggage & equipment.
This role is predominantly for the SeaLink Rottnest ferries; you will be required to work across all vessels.
A mixture of shifts is required including days, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Hourly rate > $35 per hour plus weekend penalties of 33%.
Responsibilities
- Operate Company vessels safely and efficiently.
- Provide technical oversight and maintenance of all main and auxiliary machinery, including air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical systems, and firefighting equipment.
- Maintain the engine room and keep machinery spaces clean.
- Collaborate with the on-ground Maintenance team, the Master and the Operations Manager to meet technical, service and supply requirements.
- Assist with loading/unloading of the vessel, luggage and equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MED1 or MED 2 qualifications
- Senior First Aid certificate
- Current driver's licence
- Knowledge of Safety Management Systems
- Knowledge of WHS Regulations
- Understanding of diesel engines, electrics (domestic and marine) and plumbing systems
- Experience with Scania and/or Caterpillar Marine Engines is highly desirable.
