About the role
Journey Beyond, a national business focused on bringing Australia's most unique experiences to life, is currently seeking a Housekeeping Attendant to join their team on The Ghan, one of Australia's most luxurious rail journeys. As a Housekeeping Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and presentation of guest cabins and communal areas, creating a comfortable and inviting environment for guests to relax in. You will be part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional service and unforgettable experiences for guests traveling on this iconic journey.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Terminal Manager, some of your tasks will include:
* Clean and maintain the assigned number of cabins and communal areas to the highest standard
* Ensure all guest amenities are fully stocked and replenished
* Prioritize and complete daily tasks on time and efficiently
* Report any maintenance issues or damage to the relevant department
* Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, responding to any guest queries or requests promptly and professionally
* Assist, where required, with set-up semi-weekly dinner functions
* Uphold company policies and procedures in relation to housekeeping and safety
* Contribute to the overall success of The Ghan by actively participating in team meetings and seeking to continuously improve the guest experience.
Requirements
* Previous experience in housekeeping, ideally within a hospitality or travel environment
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specific instructions
* Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
* Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
* The physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of time
* A positive, can-do attitude and commitment to providing exceptional customer service
* Full and unrestricted driver's license (H Endorsement preferred but not necessary)
This position will require you to be on your feet for long periods of time and primarily outdoors. To be successful in this position you will have a keen eye for detail and quality of presentation and be able to operate calmly under time pressure. Ability to safely adhere to protocols when engaged in manual handling and operation of equipment.

Monday: 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Thursday: 9:00am - 6:00pm
April - October
Monday: 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Thursday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
Sunday: 11:00am – 3:00pm
