We are a respected residential builder on the Sunshine Coast with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality homes and innovative design solutions. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Building Designer to lead and manage our in-house product development.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Building Designer to take ownership of our home design portfolio and contribute to the ongoing evolution of our product offering. You will work closely with management, estimating, drafting, sales, and construction teams to develop practical, market-leading residential designs that align with current trends, construction efficiencies, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and oversee the company's in-house product development
* Design and develop innovative residential home designs and floorplans
* Meet with clients on custom builds & prepare concept designs, documentation, and presentation materials
* Design and develop new display homes
* Design and develop new facade options
* Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and developer guidelines
* Collaborate with internal departments to improve buildability, cost efficiency, and customer appeal
* Monitor market trends, competitor products, and emerging design innovations
* Coordinate external consultants where required
* Maintain and update the company's standard plans and product library
* Assist with custom design modifications and client requests when required
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in residential building design
* Strong knowledge of Australian residential construction and building codes
* Proficiency in relevant design software (Company uses Revit)
* Strong understanding of construction methods and cost-effective design principles
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
* Creative mindset with strong attention to detail
* Relevant qualifications in Building Design, Architecture, or a related field preferred

The Position is Part Time, with a competitive salary package pro rata, based on experience and agreed working hours.
