Primary objective
You will provide regional leadership and coordination for the East Arnhem region, across and beyond the Northern Territory Public Sector.
This involves leading, partnering and coordinating with government agencies, community organisations, and key stakeholders to rebuild
the economy, reduce crime and restore the Territory lifestyle at the regional level. You will coordinate economic growth strategies for the
East Arnhem region and direct local emergency recovery activities.
Context Statement
The Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet's purpose is to deliver coordinated policy and priority reform, regional leadership, and
high-quality support to Executive Government. This position reports to the Deputy CEO, Policy, Reform and Regions.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Drive the coordination and implementation of the Northern Territory Government's priorities in the East Arnhem region, with a focus
on rebuilding the economy, reducing crime and restoring the Territory Lifestyle.
1. Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships and strategic alliances with other government agencies, Commonwealth agencies,
local government, land councils, local businesses and community stakeholders.
3. Drive the coordination and collaboration activities across key stakeholders to achieve a positive socio-economic transition of the
Gove Peninsula and Northeast Arnhem region.
4. Work with the Deputy CEO, Policy, Reform and Regions to provide advice from a whole of government perspective to the Chief
Executive Officer of the Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet and other agencies' Chief Executive Officers on strategic
issues and service delivery within the East Arnhem region.
1. Lead the development of innovative service delivery and policy implementation solutions to foster regional economic growth and
economic participation and improve outcomes for Territorians.
1. Represent the interests of the Northern Territory Government at relevant regional and national forums.
2. Work with the CM&C Emergency Recovery Unit to direct, lead and coordinate with relevant agencies in regional emergency recovery
for the local region.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven expertise in regional economic development, policy implementation and strategic leadership, including a combination of
relevant tertiary qualifications and substantial executive experience
1. Strong collaborative skills, including a 'can do' attitude, demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships
and strategic alliances, and demonstrated results in cross-agency collaboration, service coordination and reform implementation.
3. Excellent communication capability, including in providing verbal and written advice to a range of stakeholders, including CEOs and
Senior Executives as well as industry and community stakeholders, and interacting effectively with people of diverse cultures.
4. Demonstrated high level of political awareness, sensitivity, judgement and ability to approach a range of complex issues from a whole
of government perspective.
5. Substantial knowledge and understanding of current and emerging regional, remote, and urban issues and their drivers.
Desirable
1. Extensive experience and understanding of regional issues in the East Arnhem region.
