An opportunity is now available for a confident, proactive Media and Content Officer to join a high-performing government communications team. In this role, you’ll lead the planning and delivery of strategic media and content activities across a range of platforms, while contributing to broader communications initiatives. You’ll bring a solid understanding of government processes, media engagement and content development, and will thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities • Develop and implement media and content strategies aligned to the agency’s objectives • Write and edit high-quality communications including media releases, speeches, web stories, key messaging and internal updates • Collaborate with internal teams, government stakeholders, media and industry contacts to coordinate effective communication • Manage and update digital content across websites, social media and e-newsletters in partnership with digital communications colleagues • Support media engagement by responding to enquiries, preparing briefings and identifying proactive media opportunities • Produce a range of collateral including brochures, signage, advertising materials and stakeholder communications • Provide strategic communications advice to staff and contribute to broader campaigns and cross-agency initiatives About You You are a confident and capable media communications professional with: • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience developing content across multiple formats and audiences • A strong background in government communications, with a solid understanding of public sector and ministerial protocols • Demonstrated media experience – including writing media releases, preparing talking points, and working with media advisors • Experience planning and delivering strategic content and communications activities • Knowledge of digital communication best practice, including content creation for web and social platforms • Strong attention to detail, effective time management and the ability to balance multiple priorities • A collaborative approach and ability to build trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism or a related discipline are required.
