Events ACT is seeking a Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to provide expert guidance and support across our diverse portfolio of major events, including Floriade, Enlighten Festival, and Canberra Day celebrations. This role is integral to ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and the ACT Government’s PeopleSafety framework, while fostering a culture of safety and inclusion. Reporting to the Senior Director, Event Delivery, the successful officer will be highly motivated, reliable, willing and committed to contributing to a high performing team. You will be responsible for supporting the Event Delivery team meet their WHS obligations when delivering our suite of events as well as supporting the Branch with overall WHS requirements including, but not limited to quarterly reporting, preparing WHS plans, risk assessments and other WHS documentation as required. Eligibility/Other requirements: A Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety or the ability to obtain one is required. First Aid certificate or ability to obtain Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au) This position requires occasional after hours, weekend and public holiday work during event delivery periods Desirable Driver’s license C class Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain General Construction Induction Card ( White Card) Experience in outdoor events, the construction industry or a similar industry. Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of nine months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
