Position: Evening Laboratory Assistants (Molecular Pathology)Location: Bowen Hills, QLDEmployment Type: Full-time or part-time positions available.
Shifts are 7.5 hours, currently scheduled between 7:00 PM and 2:30 AM.
Following sufficient training, participation in the weekend and public holiday roster may be required.Key ResponsibilitiesFull training is provided and duties include (but are not limited to):Performing specimen log-in, specimen retrieval, processing, and filingConducting DNA/RNA extraction (manual and automated)Handling phone enquiries and reagent preparationOperating specimen handling instrumentsPerforming other general laboratory duties as directed by the Lab Assistant Supervisor or Laboratory ManagementWhat we are looking forWe are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals who will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a teamSound organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloadA commitment to accuracy, safety, and quality in all tasksA willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing prioritiesSound computer literacyPrevious experience in a laboratory environment is desirable, but not essential, as full training is provided.
We also welcome applicants from non-healthcare backgrounds—staff with experience in hospitality, particularly in fast-paced barista roles, have proven highly successful in our Laboratory Assistant team.Applicants should have a strong work ethic and a high level of commitment to laboratory turnaround times, customer service, and accuracy of processing.
