JOB DESCRIPTIONThe purpose of this position is to lead and manage a portion of Irving Shipbuilding's financial accounting and reporting.
This involves detailed analysis of the company's accounting records and discussions with the business.
The role aims to ensure trust in the financial records and develop junior staff.RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare period-end journal entries, accruals, analyze results, and code invoices.Mentor junior staff through task assignment, review, and debriefing.Meet with business units to understand operations and discuss accounting impacts.Lead initiatives to improve efficiency and strengthen controls within the business.Prepare corporate and management reports.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree required.Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.Deep knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.Self-motivated, curious, and solutions-oriented.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Commitment to continuous improvement.Post-designation experience and indirect management experience (e.g., co-op students).Ability to communicate financial issues effectively to diverse audiences.ABOUT USFounded in 1882, J.D.
