Duty Manager - Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges

The Role

As Duty Manager at Esplanade Hotel Fremantle by Rydges, you are the face and custodian of the hotel on shift - coordinating operations across all departments, championing the guest experience, and keeping everything running smoothly in the absence of senior management. From VIP arrivals to guest complaints to crisis response, you're the one who holds it all together with calm, confidence and a genuine service spirit.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee and coordinate hotel operations across all departments during your shift - ensuring staffing, standards and service are on point at all times.
* Be the go‐to for guests: greet, assist, resolve complaints and proactively handle any issues with professionalism and genuine care.
* Drive room rate and occupancy outcomes through yield awareness, upselling and close liaison with key departmental teams.
* Maintain the hotel duty log, report all incidents, and lead the hotel through any crisis or evacuation situation.
* Monitor departmental expenses, assist with rostering, and ensure financial controls and cashiering procedures are followed.
* Direct and support Front Office personnel, contribute to training and development, and keep staff portfolios and checklists up to date.
* Ensure hotel security, asset protection and WH&S compliance are maintained throughout every shift.

What You'll Bring

* Experience in a Duty Manager, Shift Manager or senior Front Office role within a hotel environment.
* Confident, calm leadership presence - you take charge on shift and bring the team with you.
* Strong guest relations skills with the ability to resolve complaints diplomatically and decisively.
* Commercial awareness - you understand yield management, room rates and the levers that drive revenue.
* Sound knowledge of hotel systems, financial controls, WH&S obligations and security procedures.
* Full working knowledge of hotel computer/IT systems and fire and evacuation procedures.
* A proactive communicator who keeps all departments informed and aligned.
