We are partnering with a leading global engineering, procurement and construction business to recruit an experienced Legal Counsel for a hands‐on role supporting some of Australia's and APAC's most significant mining, minerals, and metals projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Project manage bid and tender processes for major mining and minerals projects across APAC, including structuring transactions, risk reviews, and contract negotiations.
* Review and advise on complex construction and EPCM contracts at tender/bid stage (D&C, EPC, ECI, alliances, and related project agreements).
* Provide strategic commercial and legal advice to bid and delivery teams on risk allocation, delays/EOTs, termination, security, retention, scope changes, variations, and pricing mechanisms in a mining construction context.
* Lead post‐tender and post‐bid negotiations with clients, joint venture partners, and subcontractors.
* Deliver clear, pragmatic legal and commercial advice to stakeholders in construction, project delivery, and corporate teams on mining and metals projects.
* Support the M&A team on acquisitions and divestments as required.
* Manage external legal counsel efficiently and identify/mitigate legal risks throughout project development and execution.
* Contribute to regulatory compliance, including environmental, planning, and native title matters, while proactively minimising disputes.
About You
* 5+ years of construction law experience with a strong focus on mining, minerals or heavy industrial projects.
* Proven technical skills and hands‐on experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex bids, tenders, and construction/EPCM contracts in the mining and resources sector.
* Solid commercial mindset, solutions‐focused approach, and ability to manage multi‐party, high‐stakes transactions in a fast‐paced project environment.
