Job Description
BEKAERT DESLEE (AUST) PTY LTD Repair and overhaul mechanical/electronic components on our state-of-the-art textile machines. Adjust and set up textile machines to achieve the optimum efficiency in a high volume production environment. Perform maintenance such as tuning, modifying, cleaning and lubrication of textile machinery and replace and align parts as required.
Recommend equipment changes or modifications and evaluate new equipment. Troubleshoot, test run and verify machine for proper operation. Developing new knitting stitches / patterns in order to maintain our leading position in the market.
Recognise and report to Weaving Manager, Department Manager/Supervisor or Maintenance, mechanical problems as appropriate. Perform other duties within Department or other production departments as required from time to time, cleaning of work area and/or machines, operation of other machines, trolleys, lifting devices, tools, implements, etc. provided instruction has been provided in the safe and effective use of such items. Make recommendations for quality/efficiency improvements.
Ability to undertake an expanding role as a Textile Mechanic at Bekaert Deslee, incorporating work on all knitting, looms, jacquards and associated equipment. Ability to impart training, instruction and supervision to other employees as appropriate, to ensure multi-skilling of employees on machines and ancillary equipment as appropriate. Assisting technical staff, Supervisors and Managers, when required, to perform processing trials on new set ups, new products etc.
for product development projects. Recognised Trade Qualifications as a Textile Mechanic. Experience as a Textile Mechanic with modern machinery in the Textile Industry.
Hands-on experience in all aspects of installing, commissioning, adjusting, setting and operating textile machines. Knowledge of the structure of various natural and man-made fibres and yarns, differentiation between warp and weft yarns and ability to recognise discrepancies or variations from specification in production, and the ability to take appropriate action to rectify or report as appropriate. Experience in evaluation, development and implementation of quality systems, safety systems, and ability to continually evaluate and enhance existing and new methods, to achieve production quality improvements, efficiencies and enhanced standards of occupational health and safety.
