Mechanical Fitter Apprenticeship
The Opportunity
In partnership with our host, BOC Gas and Gear, based in Wetherill Park, a leading global gases and engineering company supplying gases and equipment to sectors such as heavy industry and healthcare
BOC is seeking a full-time Mechanical Fitter to join their team. Applicants in their 2nd or 3rd year of apprenticeship are also encouraged to apply
This four-year apprenticeship offers hands‐on experience while completing your MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Fitting / machining) and becoming a fully qualified tradesperson
In this role, you will assist in the safe and efficient operation of equipment under the supervision of experienced tradespeople.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair BOC equipment on‐site
* Service and refurbish vessels and systems
* Carry out audits, inspections, and safety checks
* Install food prep and freezer equipment
* Deliver services across multiple CES markets as needed
* Service both company and customer‐owned gas equipment
* Perform gas purges and equipment rebuilds
Hours
* Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
* Overtime: May be required outside standard hours, depending on job requirements
* Full time 4‐year contract including paid annual and personal leave
* Access to 1:1 mentoring
* The chance to learn from experienced tradespeople
Opportunity to access Government support payments of up to a total of $2,500 for the first two years of your apprenticeship paid in four instalments
About You
* A valid driver's licence
* A Construction White Card
* The ability to follow instructions and work safely
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Willingness to work overtime and travel to various sites
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Full COVID‐19 vaccination required for hospital‐based work
* Ability to pass a pre‐employment medical, drug & alcohol screening, and police check
