Two Senior Infrastructure Engineer rolesContract starting from 1 July 202512 months with 2x 12 months extension optionsAustralian citizenship with NV1 security clearance is mandatoryHybrid work arrangement (3 days Onsite)Location: CanberraInfrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.Key responsibilitiesProviding technical expertise to projects and business areas, and leading the technical deliverables;Maintaining, monitoring and upgrading the Virtual Service Environment (VSE) environments and servers in accordance with vendor recommendations, ensuring they are fit for purpose;Planning, designing, developing, testing, and maintaining new or existing virtual service developments in collaboration with stakeholders and according to guidelines;Configuring and deploying virtual services and servers in line with the application's operational model governed by application owners;Leading analysis, planning, execution, delivery, and performance improvement activities using appropriate tools;Promoting the adoption of virtual services through walkthroughs and demos to ICT stakeholders and project teams;Supporting and guiding project teams in maintaining their virtual service environments;Supporting the management and operation of the Department's secure storage, backup, and data protection capabilities;Implementing project work to support departmental initiatives;Undertaking enhancement and remediation activities across storage, backup, and data protection systems.Technical skillsFor role 1: Experience with Dell Powerscale, Dell ECS, Dell Unity, Dell Powermax, Avamar, Networker, PPDM, Data Domain, VMware vSAN, VMware virtualization on HCI is advantageous.For role 2: Skills in Windows Server OS, Active Directory, SCCM, Hyper-V/VMM, SCOM, File & Print, VMware ESX & vSphere, vRA, vSAN, NSX, virtualization on HCI, Unified Communications, Video Conferencing, SMTP Email, SSL Gateways, Load Balancing, Proxy Systems, Firewalls (including management), IPS.For role 3: Experience with Windows Server OS, Active Directory, MS SQL Server, IBM DB2 (Linux/Unix), Powershell, SQL programming, MQ & related products, z/OS MQ, Microsoft products (SCCM, Hyper-V, SCOM, File & Print), VMware (ESX, vSphere, vSAN, NSX, HCI), SMTP, SSL Gateways, Load Balancing, Proxy, Firewalls, IPS.CriteriaProgramming/software development level 3: Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends, and refactors moderately complex programs/scripts.
