The Role.
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer with a minimum of five years end-to-end payroll processing experience and a strong accounting background. Formal qualifications are not essential; however, demonstrated practical expertise in payroll legislation, reconciliations, and financial processes is critical.
This role requires high attention to detail, strong compliance knowledge (particularly Australian payroll legislation), and the ability to work independently within a structured finance environment.
The Responsibilities.
Payroll
* End-to-end weekly payroll processing for 3 independent entities
* Interpretation and application of Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
* Calculation and processing of:
* Superannuation
* PAYG withholding
* Overtime, allowances, bonuses
* Terminations and redundancy payments
* Payroll tax calculation and reconciliation
* STP (Single Touch Payroll) reporting and compliance
* Processing leave accruals and adjustments
* Portable Long Service Leave
* Weekly external labour hire timesheets
* Live record keeping
* On boarding/off boarding
Compliance & Reporting
* Ensure compliance with:
* Fair Work legislation
* ATO requirements
* Superannuation guarantee obligations
* Payroll tax legislation (WA Base)
* Preparation of:
* Payroll reconciliations (monthly and year-end)
* EOFY payroll reporting
* Workers compensation wage declarations
* Liaise with auditors and external stakeholders as required
Accounting & Reconciliations
* General ledger payroll journals
* Balance sheet reconciliations (wages payable, super payable, PAYG payable)
* Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes
* Support accounts payable/receivable where required
* Assist with budgeting and payroll forecasting
The Person.
Essential
* Minimum 5 years’ payroll experience (end-to-end processing)
* Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation
* Experience with payroll systems (MYOB ACUMATICA)
* Advanced Excel skills (reconciliations, formulas, data validation)
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to manage confidential information
Desirable
* Accounting background or hands-on experience in finance functions
* Experience with new system implementation
* Exposure to construction or award-based industries
