Support Worker – High Energy, Neuroaffirming Family Support Role
We are seeking a confident, neuroaffirming Support Worker to join a family supporting two homeschooled children (ages 7 and 9) with complex support needs under the NDIS.
This role suits someone who brings great energy, emotional intelligence, and confidence, and who genuinely enjoys working with kids who are bright, spirited, and perceptive.
About the Role
* Supporting two children with high support needs and significant emotional regulation challenges
* Working closely with parents as an extension of the family team — being the "eyes and ears"
* A strong focus on teaching healthy relationships, boundaries, and everyday life skills
* Supporting emotional regulation, sensory needs, and transitions
* Assisting with community access and in-home supports
* When children are settled, light household support such as meal prep and tidying may be required
The Children
* Child (7):
* High-energy, playful, constantly on the move
* Experiences separation anxiety
* Responds best to upbeat, engaging, and positive support
* Child (9):
* Has had a very challenging journey and presents with complex behaviours
* Sensory differences (e.g. difficulty recognising temperature, hunger cues)
* Can escalate quickly and takes time to regulate once heightened
* Requires confident, calm support with strong boundaries
* Needs prompting for daily cues (eating, clothing changes, self-awareness)
Extensive funding is in place due to historical behaviours, including long meltdowns. These behaviours have not occurred in front of staff, but confidence and emotional resilience are essential.What We're Looking For
* A confident support worker who is comfortable saying no and holding boundaries
* Someone who kids respect — they read people well
* Neuroaffirming approach
* Strong communicator who can genuinely converse and connect
* Creative and able to think outside the box
* Comfortable adjusting environments to support regulation
* A "big kid at heart" who enjoys play, creativity, and hands-on activities
* Skilled at de-escalation and emotional regulation support
