Overview:
A Federal Government agency regulating disability service providers is seeking experienced actuaries for multiple roles across EL2, APS6, and APS4 levels.
EL2 Actuary (Professional Stream) – Senior Leadership
o Oversight of complex actuarial projects
o Strategic planning and policy advice
o Lead data modelling and interpretation aligned with legislation
o Advise senior leadership on actuarial and statistical matters
o Manage team projects with strategic impact
Essential Criteria for EL2:
o Associate Actuary progressing towards Fellowship
o 10–15+ years of actuarial experience
o Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
o Relevant tertiary qualifications
APS6 Actuary – Team Leadership
o Lead and manage team activities with delegated authority
o Provide technical, operational, and policy advice on complex actuarial problems
o Support strategic planning, program management, and policy development
o Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on sensitive issues
o Extract, cleanse, and analyse data from multiple sources to support reporting and monitoring
Essential Criteria for APS6:
o 4–7 years data analytics/scientist experience
o Advanced R programming, SQL, SAS, modelling techniques (GLMs, GBMs)
o Relevant tertiary qualifications, progressing towards Associate/Fellowship
o Leadership experience desirable
APS4 Actuary – Team Membership
o Work within defined parameters supporting actuarial and data analytics functions
o Apply well-established policies and procedures
o Provide operational and administrative support, undertake research and analysis
o Extract and prepare data; use software including Microsoft Office and SAS
o Support actuarial monitoring, scheme projects, and cost-benefit analyses
Essential Criteria for APS4:
o 0–2 years actuarial/data analytics/scientist experience
o Relevant tertiary qualifications (Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science)
o Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
o Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
