We celebrate a 'One Team Culture', where bringing together diversity of thought and expression is key to building the best team to deliver excellent results.We are seeking passionate and motivated Invertebrate Ecologist, ranging from early‐career to senior practitioners, to join our growing Ecology team in Perth. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for invertebrate taxonomy and conservation, with demonstrable experience in fieldwork and knowledge of invertebrate biology. SLR provides strong technical guidance and mentoring, providing a foundation from which to build a career, with a team of highly experienced Technical Directors who will guide you through your continued professional development and growth.In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of ecological assessments, monitoring programs, and research-driven studies across diverse landscapes, predominantly in Western Australia. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‐quality technical outputs, support project approvals, and develop innovative approaches to understanding plant health, adaptation, and ecosystem functioning, in particular with terrestrial short-range endemic (SRE) invertebrate fauna.Depending on your level of experience, you will take on responsibilities spanning field surveys, data analysis, client engagement, project delivery, invertebrate taxonomy and report writing. If scientific excellence drives you, fieldwork in diverse and unique landscapes excites you, and being at the forefront of invertebrate species collection and discovery excites you, and you're looking to join a collaborative and forward‐thinking team, we'd be excited to hear from you.**Job tasks and responsibilities**Dependant on your level of experience:* Plan, design and deliver SRE invertebrate surveys and ecological monitoring programs, including habitat assessments, active searching and trapping, and targeted surveys.* Contribute to and, where appropriate, lead invertebrate SRE ecological investigations.* Assist in morphological identifications of invertebrate specimens.* Analyse and interpret ecological, and spatial data to produce high-quality technical reports that provide clear, evidence-based assessments of invertebrate communities and provide advice on SRE status.* Support and progressively lead project delivery, including research design, literature review, proposal and scope development, and client communication.* Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams while contributing to knowledge sharing, mentoring and quality assurance processes that strengthen team capability and technical excellence.**Skills and experience****Essential*** Degree in Zoology, Animal Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.* Experience in invertebrate collection and identification.* Understanding of terrestrial invertebrate SRE survey methods.* Strong written and verbal communication skills.* Willingness to undertake fieldwork in remote or regional locations.**Desirable*** Experience working in consulting, mining, resources, government or research environments.* Knowledge of state and federal environmental legislation and survey guidelines.* Skills in statistical analysis (R, Python), data interpretation, or remote sensing.* Experience in genetic analysis for species identifications* Demonstrated capability in project coordination or technical leadership (for senior roles).**Our Benefits**We are proud of our unique culture where we work together to collaborate on projects to get the best possible outcome for our clients.
