We’re seeking an enthusiastic Food Truck Operator to run a brand-new, state-of-the-art food van in a remote coastal community in the Northern Territory. This is a rare opportunity to become the inaugural operator of an exciting community project, helping bring great food and friendly service to locals while working in one of Australia’s most unique and culturally rich regions. The town offers essential amenities including local stores, two supermarkets, takeaway outlets, a police station, swimming pool, and sporting facilities, making it a comfortable base while you enjoy the remote lifestyle. If you’re adaptable, self-motivated, and keen for a rewarding outback experience, we’d love to hear from you. Role Details Start: Immediate Position: Casual – Ongoing role Commitment: Minimum 6 months required Pay & Benefits • $35.15 per hour (Monday–Friday) penalty rates • Free shared accommodation provided (electricity contribution approx. $40 per week) • Travel assistance from Darwin (return) ✈️ • Unique opportunity to live and work in a remote coastal NT community About the Role You’ll be responsible for operating the fully self-contained food van and delivering great service to the community. Your duties will include: • Operating the walk-through mobile food van • Driving the van to designated sites around the community • Stocking the van with pre-prepared meals from the local takeaway/café • Managing fridges, dry goods, hot foods, napkins, and supplies • Cash handling and register operation • Providing friendly customer service while working autonomously • Assisting with training and supporting local staff • Monitoring stock levels and restocking as required • Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards • General operational duties as required What We’re Looking For • Previous food service, catering, or hospitality experience highly regarded • Experience working in remote communities highly regarded • Ability to work independently and manage daily operations • Strong communication and customer service skills • Resilient, adaptable, and community-minded • Current Food Handler Certificate • MUST have a valid driver’s licence • Comfortable living and working in a remote location Additional Information Perfect for someone looking for a rewarding remote experience while making a real impact in a community.
