The key purpose of this role is to join our Knowledge Commons team to assist in the provision of library and information services that support the educational aims of the School and enrich its teaching programs.
You will be required to provide a variety of support to other library staff, teaching staff and students, in the areas of technical services, accessioning procedures, reference and research and circulation duties.
The Knowledge Commons facility provides access and services for students before and after school, and you will need to have flexibility to support the opening (7.30am start) or closing (6pm finish) shifts.
This is a full time, ongoing position, ideally, commencing as soon as possible.
The successful applicant will:Have a Diploma of Library and Information Services (or equivalent)Relevant previous experience in similar library technician roles, preferably within an environment where adolescents were part of the client group. Previous experience in co-educational, independent Schools will be well regardedExperience with the OLIVER v5 LMS and back-end management highly desirablePrevious experience in the creation and editing of LibGuides and/or LearnPath GuidesStrong understanding of children's and young adult literatureDemonstrated experience in cataloguing materials and with collection management processes and proceduresExperience in the creation of library displays to support and encourage student borrowingStrong interpersonal skills and customer service focus, with the ability to build rapport and interact with both adults and students (Junior and Secondary)High level verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently but also as part of a dynamic, creative and collaborative teamHold a current Employee Working with Children Check or willing to obtain this prior to commencementSt Michael's Grammar School is one of the leading co-educational, independent schools in Australia, providing exceptional learning opportunities to students from Kindergarten to Year 12.
