Health and Safety Advisor – Capital Delivery
About the role
The Health and Safety Advisor – Capital Delivery plays an integral role in supporting the protected delivery of North East Water’s infrastructure projects.
In this role you will provide support to project managers to ensure the safe delivery of capital projects and provide specialist advice to all staff and senior managers on a range of OHS related matters for capital delivery.
You will be based in our Regional Headquarters, Wodonga and will undertake regular site visits across our service area.
This role is a full-time, ongoing opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining Safety Functional Requirements Specification on all Capital Delivery projects.
- Supporting Capital Delivery team projects, from inception through to completion. This includes, but is not limited to, participating in project scoping, risk assessments, HAZOP, Construction, Hazard, Assessment and Implication Reviews and project briefings and undertaking incident debriefs.
- Developing and reviewing project documentation and contractor reporting.
- Leading OHS Principal Contractor interviews with preferred tenderers.
- Collaborating with Principal Contractor OHS staff to conduct regular site audits.
- Working closely with project managers to ensure contractor OHS obligations are met on individual projects.
- Undertaking regular site visits to collaborate with Principal Contractor OHS staff and completing OHS audits and inspection programs to achieve compliance with relevant legislation.
- Providing specialist advice to empower staff and senior leaders on all Capital Delivery OHS related issues.
- Ensuring all data is correctly entered into the Work Health and Safety Information System.
- Collating and contributing data for contractor OHS performance reporting for Health, Safety and Wellbeing board reports.
- Preparing and presenting Principal Contractor OHS performance data to P&I; and OHS teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking regular site visits to collaborate with teams to complete OHS audits and inspection programs - to achieve compliance with the Corporation’s policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Providing specialist advice to empower staff and senior leaders on all OHS related matters.
- Undertaking hazard and risk assessments ; identifying suitable controls and development of corrective action plans in consultation with the relevant business units/contractors.
- Ensuring all data is correctly entered into the Work Health and Safety Information System.
- Overseeing the approval of OHS management plans and relevant licences for contractor applications.
- Participating in project scoping, risk assessments, HAZOPs and project briefings, as required.
- Providing administrative support for the OHS Management System.
- Overseeing the procurement and supply of PPE.
- Carrying out any other duties as requested that commensurate with the nature of the position.

Position Information
- An attractive salary range of $78,527 to $88,313 plus 12% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
- This is a full time, ongoing position.
- Successful applicants will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including a police check and/or pre-employment medical and functional testing where applicable.
