An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the Infrastructure, Planning and Major Projects Branch as a Policy Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet. The Branch which is comprised of the Transport, Planning, and Precincts teams, plays a vital role in shaping the delivery of Victoria's planning, transport and infrastructure priorities. This is an opportunity to work at the centre of the Victorian Government during a time of significant reform and infrastructure investment to meet the needs of a changing and diverse population. In this role you will experience and contribute to cabinet processes, interdepartmental forums and policy development to help Government meet its commitments. Our view from the centre of government enables us to connect projects and processes to improve outcomes for the Victorian community. Core duties of this role includes taking a whole-of-Victorian government perspective to provide high quality policy advice and analysis to the Premier, DPC Secretary and other senior officers across a range of planning, building, precinct and transport issues. The policy adviser will work closely across DPC, departments and agencies to help develop, influence and guide policy development and project delivery across the transport, planning, precinct and infrastructure portfolios. This includes the Department of Treasury and Finance, Department of Transport and Planning and other related Government bodies. The role will require policy, analytical and communication skills, along with an ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively in a team environment. We work in a complex, fast-paced and challenging environment with a constructive and positive culture. About you As our ideal candidate you will have: Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and co-ordination processes to inform the development of policies and programs. Well developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to provide advice on processes and policies and work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with ability to make sound judgement and capacity to make decisions and recommendations where diverse interests needs to be considered. Excellent writing skills, high attention to detail and ability to tailor written communication to the needs of the audience and prepare briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language. Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
