Role Description
The Finance Manager role oversees delivery of the Bunbury Harvey Regional Council (BHRC) fiscal obligations by leading and managing Council's finances, reporting and provides business advice.
The role requires a high level of budgetary competency and financial accountability within the organisation and ensure that BHRC is compliant with Local Government Act 2021, Local Government Financial Management Regulations 1996, Australian Accounting Standards, and other relevant legislation.
Essential
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting degree or equivalent.
• Demonstrated knowledge in local government accounting & reporting, Australian Accounting Standards and contemporary accounting practices.
• Knowledge of taxation regulations, including BAS and regulatory returns.
• Developed auditing and risk assessment skills.
• High level of written communication skills to inform a broad range of stakeholders internal and external to the Council.
• Sound knowledge of financial and accounting software programs, particularly Xero.
• High level of written communication skills to inform a broad range of stakeholders internal and external to the Council (including budget and financial reports).
• Sound knowledge financial and accounting software programs, particularly Xero.
• High level of financial and budgetary management skills to provide direction and support across the organisation by having high quality and accurate reporting ability often within tight timeframes.
• Demonstrate leadership abilities to supervise, train, mentor and build capacity of staff for support
• Possession of a current Western Australian (C) Class motor vehicle driver's licence
Desirable
• Experience in waste management and associated practices and processes

Advanced knowledge of Xero, Excel, Local Government reporting
• Knowledge of Mandalay in waste management and associated practices and processes
• Experience integrating stock control systems with financial software systems.
