Job Description As Head of Asset Management, you will lead Judo’s national Asset Management function, overseeing the strategy and execution for managing distressed and impaired assets across the portfolio. You will protect the bank’s asset quality while ensuring fair outcomes for our SME customers. You’ll manage a geographically distributed team of State Directors and other professionals, set the strategic direction, embed best‑practice frameworks, and maintain strong governance, risk management and commercial outcomes. Working closely with senior stakeholders across Credit, Risk, Legal and the broader business, you will bring a proactive, relationship‑led approach to managing complex credit situations and driving portfolio performance.
Responsibilities
Lead the overall strategy, governance and performance of Judo’s Asset Management function nationally
Provide leadership, coaching and direction to a team of State Directors and asset‑management professionals, building a high‑performing, accountable and collaborative culture
Oversee the management of distressed and impaired assets, including complex and high‑risk exposures, ensuring appropriate strategies are designed and executed
Partner closely with our senior leadership team to provide regular portfolio insights, reporting and recommendations
Drive consistency in asset‑management practices, frameworks and risk management across all regions
Support and influence credit decisioning, provisioning and recovery strategies in line with Judo’s risk appetite
Act as a key escalation point for complex or sensitive cases, ensuring balanced customer and commercial outcomes
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including legal, restructuring and insolvency specialists
Champion continuous improvement, contributing to process enhancements, systems development and evolving best practice
Foster a culture aligned with Judo’s values, leading by example to positively influence both team and broader business culture
Qualifications
Extensive experience in financial services, ideally within business banking, credit risk or asset‑management environments
Proven leadership experience, managing senior leaders and key business stakeholders
Deep expertise in distressed asset management, restructuring, insolvency and credit‑risk frameworks
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk, customer outcomes and business performance
Confidence making complex decisions and taking ownership in high‑stakes situations
Strong negotiating and influencing skills
A highly collaborative and relationship‑led leadership style, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
Strong understanding of SME lending, business models and associated risks across a range of industries
A proactive, strategic mindset with the ability to drive change and continuous improvement
Academic qualification in an accounting or business stream complemented with specific restructuring or insolvency training
