About the opportunity
Southern Cross University is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the Corporate Finance team. This role provides support to the Financial Accountants and Director in delivering the University's corporate services, including financial and accounting, tax compliance and treasury. The role is responsible for a range of financial transaction related duties, including processing, reconciling and reporting. The role will also provide support and accurate advice to stakeholders in relation to financial policy, processes and compliance.
Your core responsibilities will include:
* Maintain, review and reconcile ledger accounts, including preparing reconciliation's, investigating and resolving discrepancies
* Contribute to the preparation of the monthly financial statements and assist with collation of statutory returns including BAS, FBT, Payroll Tax etc
* Assist with maintaining the Asset registers including processing additions, disposals, depreciation and coordinating cyclical stock takes
* Support the treasury function, including cash flow forecasting and the administration of corporate cards and leasing programs

More specifically, you will have:
* A relevant tertiary qualification with two years relevant work experience. CPA or CANZ current membership, or eligibility for membership (including those currently studying or intending to apply) will be highly regarded
* Demonstrated understanding of financial controls, accounting standards, taxation legislation (particularly in relation to GST, FBT and Payroll Tax) and experience in applying policy and guidelines
* Strong computer literacy and reconciliations skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and experience with computer-based financial systems
* Proven communication and interpersonal skills along with demonstrated time management skills with the ability to manage concurrent priorities

* Located at Lismore, NSW 2480.
* HEW Level 5. The base salary ranges from $80,737 - $89,717 per annum, plus 17% employer's contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package range is up to $104,968.
