What you'll be doing
The Dietetics and Nutrition Department Head will provide leadership, operational direction, guidance and manage the Dietetics & Nutrition services across Westmead Hospital. The position will facilitate the implementation of high levels of clinical expertise in order to provide high quality care to patients / clients and their carers consistent with NSW Ministry of Health and Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) policies, procedures and standards. Contribute to the development of teaching, research, quality improvement and clinical practice initiatives and advancement.
The position will support and advise on the professional governance, working closely with the Facility Director of Allied Health/General Manager, and other Allied Health Managers inclusive of other dietetics managers to enhance services, standards and quality across Westmead Hospital. The position may maintain a clinical load or provide an expert consultancy role in the area of clinical nutrition and dietetics.

Essential Criteria:
Tertiary Qualifications in Dietetics and Nutrition Registration: Eligible for membership of the Dietitian Association
Selection Criteria:
* Recognised degree in Dietetics & Nutrition and eligible for membership to the Dietitian Association. Substantial post graduate Dietetics & Nutrition experience.
* Demonstrated extensive experience and knowledge in clinical governance, quality initiatives and risk management.
* Proven ability to lead, develop, co-ordinate and evaluate Dietetics & Nutrition services. This will include a demonstrated ability in strategic clinical planning and the provision of a patient focused, comprehensive, high quality and cost effective clinical service.
* Demonstrated high level operational management and leadership skills to ensure effective human and financial resource management, including effective team building, service planning, coordination and evaluation.
* Demonstrated experience in effective staff management, supervision and development of staff at all levels while demonstrating behaviours that reinforces the CORE values of our organisation: Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in a health care setting, Dietetics clinical and workforce issues, and ability to implement organisational changes activities to deliver a high quality Dietetics service.
* Demonstrated high level of communication skills including advocacy and negotiation skills.
