Civil Site Engineer – Daintree Project Location: Flexible – Based in Cairns, Townsville, or anywhere in between We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Site Engineer to join our team on an exciting project in the Daintree region. This role offers flexible location options and a supportive team environment. Must be based North Queensland What We Offer: Flexible Roster: Work collaboratively with two on-site Project Managers to arrange a roster that suits both parties as the site is divided into 2 sections Attractive Salary Package: $ 140,000 superannuation Fully Equipped: Company-provided vehicle, laptop, and iPad. Accommodation and meals fully covered while on site. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Project/Site Engineer undertakes a diverse range of roles within the company. This role is focused on the provision of direction and leadership to our client within all operational activities and is responsible for ongoing monitoring and development of the company's long term sustainability The Project/Site Engineer has the responsibility of ensuring that the appropriate amount of resources (financial, time, human) are available to achieve planned operational activities within established, quality, health, safety and environmental standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES: GENERAL Organizing materials and ensuring sites are safe and clean. Preparing cost estimates and ensuring appropriate materials and tools are available. Providing technical advice and suggestions for improvement on particular projects. Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment as required. Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to ensure the best contracts. Authorizing technical drawings and engineering plans. Drawing up work schedules and communicating any adjustments to crew members and clients. Gathering data, compiling reports and delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders. Delegating tasks and scheduling meetings and training sessions where required. Completing quality assurance and providing feedback to the team. HEALTH AND SAFETY Show leadership and direction in HSE matters and devise, maintain and sustain a consultative, inclusive, proactive safety culture Ensure and maintain a commitment to aligning safety policies with those of valued clients, to ensure industry best practice Ensure HSE is part of the core business plan, and not seen as an extra, by allocating resources for HSE management Ensure risk management programs are implemented throughout Promoting strategies to ensure the duty of care requirement, as a Person in Charge of Business or undertaking (PCBU) within the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 – Section 19 are met. WORKERS: Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that they do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons. Understanding and complying with all WHS legislation and regulations relevant to their activities at the workplace; Follow safe work practices as provided by their supervisor, including the proper use of any personal protective equipment supplied. Seek information or advice from a supervisor before performing new or unfamiliar tasks. Report all health and safety accidents, incidents and hazards to their supervisor as soon as is practicable. Follow the emergency evacuation procedures. Support workplace injury management and return to work programs in their work areas. ENVIRONMENTAL Ensure all projects comply with State and Federal environmental Legislation. Promoting and raising awareness, at all levels of an organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues, whether legislative or best practice, on corporate, ethical and social responsibility; Ensure National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System (NGERS) reporting is completed (If applicable) Provide environmental leadership by ensuring environmental management plans and their controls are effective on site WORKERS: Must not carry out any activity that causes, or is likely to cause, environmental harm unless that person takes all reasonable and practicable measures to minimise the harm. Understanding and complying with all environmental legislation and regulations relevant to their activities at the workplace; Undertake any environmental training as and when required. Be aware of [The Organisation]’s Environmental Policy. Be aware of [The Organisation]’s Environmental Aspects relevant to their work activities. Work in accordance with the Environmental Management System documentation relevant to them. Report and assist with the response and investigation of any environmental incidents. Ensure that any equipment and materials necessary for environmental management are maintained in a fit for use condition. QUALITY Commit to doing work to the highest standards of which you are capable. Participate actively and enthusiastically in quality activities including site Quality Plans Identify quality issues in your area and communicate these to the QSE Coordinator Continually look for opportunities to improve the quality of service that the company provides to our clients. Prepare all Quality Assurance Documents as required by the client WORKERS: Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system. Take action to prevent the recurrence of a non-conformance. Have a customer focus by looking for ways to improve the service. QUALIFICATIONS AND QUALITIES REQUIRED: The site Engineer’s responsibilities include managing different parts of construction projects, supervising crew members, preparing estimates for time and material costs, completing quality assurance, observing health and safety standards, and compiling reports for different stakeholders. You should be able to work alongside various professionals and create work schedules that meet deadlines. Site Engineers should demonstrate strong analytical and logical thinking skills, a superb work ethic and thrive under pressure. The Project Site Engineer must demonstrate strong experience within the Civil Construction field and hold appropriate tertiary qualifications. This should include operation qualification, experience or demonstrated understanding of the functional operations of equipment including: (but not limited to) Excavators Cranes Specific skill requirements associated with the position are as follows: Ability to read and interpret civil construction project plans and specifications Capacity to coordinate, motivate and lead a team Sound understanding of quality, health, safety and environment management principals and their application in the work environment Ability to apply a process based methodology Organizing materials and ensuring sites are safe and clean. Operational experience requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or similar. FORM POSITION DESCRIPTION Experience in a similar role. Sound knowledge of Engineering, construction, and design. Great leadership and organizational skills. Superb project management skills. Ability to apply logical and critical thinking skills to projects. Great written and verbal communication skills. A willingness to learn.
